CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

A failure was detected with Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 3.

Possible Causes:

  • Generator Control Unit (GCU) 3 (A58)
  • Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 3 (G3)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Select related CAIMS message below:
  2. If there are no CAIMS messages, make sure a visual inspection is performed. Make sure the Generator shaft is not sheared.
  3. For VFG bearing failure and/or VFG housing rupture, reference AW700-24-0598 and RIL GX-0198, make sure a visual inspection of the engine area surrounding the Generator is performed.
  4. Do close out.
