Message Description:
ICE appears when the Left or Right Bleed Management Controller (BMC) indicates that ice is detected with the Anti-ice System OFF.
ICE (Cyan) = ice is detected with anti-ice system is on.
ICE (Amber) = ice is detected with anti-ice system off.
Possible Causes:
- Ice Detector 1 (E48)
- Ice Detector 2 (E49)
- Left Bleed Management Controller (BMC) (A69)
- Right Bleed Management Controller (BMC) (A70)
- Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- The following step must be performed while the aircraft is on the ground and while the ICE CAS message is displayed on the EICAS.
- On the copilot side Cockpit Circuit Breaker Panel (CCBP):
- Pull the circuit breaker for one of the ice detectors when you get an amber ICE (Amber/Caution) message when you know there is no icing. Pull one CB at a time to isolate either side then reset prior to pulling other side.
- You will get an ICE DETECTOR FAULT (Cyan/Advisory) to tell you have lost redundancy.
- If you have pulled the circuit breaker on the ice detector that is giving false indications, then you will lose the ICE message & only the ICE DETECTOR FAULT message will post.
- Replace the respective Ice Detector and do close out.
- If you pulled the C/B on the ice detector that is serviceable, then you will continue to get the ICE & ICE DETECTOR FAULT message.
- Interchange the L BMC and the R BMC. Repeat test at step 2.
- If the result of the test in step 2 is exactly the same, continue with next step.
- If the result of the test is now opposite from the first time it was performed, replace the original R BMC and do close out.
- Perform a wiring check between the Ice Detector 2 and the right BMC as follows:
From To Result E49P1-8 A70P2-26 - If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If no defects are found, replace Ice Detector 2 and do close out.
- Interchange the L BMC and the R BMC. Repeat test at step 2.
- If the result of the test in step 2 is exactly the same, continue with next step.
- If the result of the test is now opposite from the first time it was performed, replace the original L BMC and do close out.
- Perform a wiring check between the Ice Detector 1 and the L BMC as follows:
From To Result E48P1-8 A69P2-26 - If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If no defects are found, replace Ice Detector 1 and do close out.
- Do close out.
