Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

ICE appears as a normal condition when the left or right BMC indicates that ice is detected with the anti-ice system ON.

ICE (Cyan) = ice is detected with anti-ice system is on.
ICE (Amber) = ice is detected with anti-ice system off.

Possible Causes:

  • Associated Bleed Management Controllers (BMCs)
  • Ice Detectors
  • Interface Wiring between the Ice Detector and associated Bleed Management Controller (BMC)

BMC NFF Action:
To support the technical investigation, FSRs and Service Centers are requested to perform an NVM download and complete a condition report and (BMC) PN GG546-1017-XX questionnaire when troubleshooting or removing a Bleed Management Controller (BMC) PN GG546-1017-XX.

NOTE: To avoid the display of any Bleed related CAS nuisance message after replacement of BMC due to internal failure, follow AW700-36-0365 instructions.

  • Proceed to a QAR (if available) download of the last three flights (Aircraft meeting FAR part 135.172.), SB 700-31-020
  • BMC NVM download
  • IAC CAS messages download

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks between BMC1 and Ice Detector 1.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks between BMC2 and Ice Detector 2.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Replace Ice Detector 1.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace Ice Detector 2.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Replace BMC1.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace BMC2.
  7. Do close out.
