Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Left engine is in alternate control mode through ENGINE L/R N1/EPR control switch selected to the N1 position on the cockpit Engine Control Panel (Hard reversion). This is a status message only and not a fault. Use this procedure only if the message has been posted with the switch in the EPR position.

Possible Causes:

  • Left ENGINE N1/EPR Control Switch
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 (A30)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks of the Left Engine EPR mode Selector Switch interface wire between the N1/EPR ENGINE Control Panel and DAU3 including the panel grounds.
  2. Perform continuity check of the N1/EPR ENGINE Control Panel. Make sure the Left Engine EPR mode Selector Switch shows continuity when selected to EPR and no Continuity when selected to N1.
  3. Swap DAU3 and DAU4
  4. Do close out.
