RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Antenna Control Unit (ACU) has been marked failed by the Satellite Communication (SATCOM) system.

Possible Causes:

  • Antenna Control Unit (ACU) (A227)
  • Satellite Data Unit (SDU) (A228)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Make sure the SATCOM ANT CTLR circuit breaker is set to IN on the EMS CDU.

    1. If the circuit breaker is set to IN, continue with next step.
    2. If the circuit breaker is not set to IN, set it to in and do close out.

  2. Disconnect ACU connector A227P1. Perform a 28 VDC voltage check as follows:

    From To Result
    A227P1-V A227P1-P
    A227P1-Y A227P1-S

    1. If there is no 28 VDC, investigate wiring interface and power source (SPDA 4) and do close out.
    2. If there is 28 VDC, continue with next step.

  3. Disconnect SDU connector A228BP1. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A228BP1-G7 Ground
    A228BP1-H7 Ground
    A228BP1-G7 A228BP1-H7

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A228BP1-G7 A227P1-G
    A228BP1-H7 A227P1-H

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Replace the ACU. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. Replace the SDU.
  7. Do close out.
