CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

An overflow digital audio-bus from the Radio Frequency Unit (RFU) to the Satellite Data Unit (SDU) does not operate correctly.

Possible Causes:

  • Radio Frequency Unit (RFU) (A240)
  • Satellite Data Unit (SDU) (A228)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Disconnect SDU connector A228BP1 and RFU connector A240AP1. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A228BP1-C10 Ground
    A228BP1-D10 Ground
    A228BP1-C10 A228BP1-D10

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A228BP1-C10 A240AP1-J1
    A228BP1-D10 A240AP1-K1

    1. If there is continuity, continue with next step.
    2. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.

  3. Replace the RFU. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  4. Replace the SDU.
  5. Do close out.
