AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Multi-control data bus between Satellite Data Unit (SDU) and High Power Amplifier (HPA) is inactive.

Possible Causes:

  • Satellite Data Unit (SDU) (A228)
  • Antenna Control Unit (ACU) (A227)
  • High Power Amplifier (HPA) (A229)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Disconnect HPA connector A229AP1, SDU connector A228BP1 and ACU connector A227P1. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A229AP1-A1 Ground
    A229AP1-B1 Ground
    A229AP1-A1 A229AP1-B1

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A229AP1-A1 A228BP1-G4
    A229AP1-B1 A228BP1-H4
    A229AP1-A1 A227P1-A
    A229AP1-B1 A227P1-B

    1. If there is continuity, continue with next step.
    2. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.

  3. Replace the HPA. Is the fault resolved?

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the ACU. Is the fault resolved?

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  5. Replace SDU.
  6. Do close out.
