Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) ARINC 429 Receiver #1 firmware failure.

Possible Causes:

  • Printer System
  • Airborne Data Link Unit (ADLU) (A239)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Do the operational test of the flight compartment printer. Is the operational test of the flight compartment printer satisfactory?

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. Remove the Flight Compartment Printer, to get access to the electrical connectors. On the connector A241P1, do a check for 28 VDC on pin A and ground on pin C. Is the cockpit printer output legible and identical to the received message?

    1. If YES, verify that CAIMS fault code 2320011TDY "ADLU ARINC RX 1 FAULT" is not displayed on PMAT and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring checks, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) connector A239BP1 and Flight Compartment Printer connector A241P1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective wiring as required per WM 20-12, and install the same Flight Compartment Printer and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) (ADLU ARINC 429 Receiver #1 is faulty).
  5. Do close out.
