WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) ARINC 429 Receiver 3 firmware failure.

Possible Causes:

  • Airborne Data Link Unit (ADLU) (A239)
  • Satellite Communication (SATCOM)
  • Associated Wiring

This receiver is used for the SATCOM DATA UNIT. If no SATCOM system is installed, disregard the fault code.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Do the operational test of the SATCOM system.
  2. Operate the Airborne Data-Link System using SATCOM network to receive the terminal text weather information.
    3. NOTE: Do the initialization of the Flight Management System.
  3. Is the NEW message advisory shown on FMS CDU and new message received?

    1. If YES, verify that CAIMS fault code 2320013TDY "ADLU ARINC RX 3 FAULT" is not displayed on PMAT and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring checks, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) connector A239AP1 and the SDU connector A228BP1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective wiring as required per WM 20-12, and install the same Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU). Operate the Airborne Data-Link System as per step 3 in this procedure. Confirm new message received and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  5. Replace the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) (ADLU ARINC 429 Receiver #3 is faulty).
  6. Do close out.
