Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Operate the Airborne Data-Link System using VHF network to receive the terminal text weather information. Deactivate SATCOM and Telephony systems by respective circuit breakers. Is the terminal text weather information displayed?
NOTE: Do the initialization of the Flight Management System (FMS). Make sure aircraft is within VHF range of ACARS data communication ground station and VHF #3 is operative.

    1. If YES, go to step 3.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) connector A239BP1 and the VHF COM #3 connector A226P1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If YES, go to step 7.
    2. If NO, repair or replace the defective wiring as required per WM 20-12 and do close out.

  3. Check if the Flight Compartment Printer is installed?

    1. If NO, go to step 6.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Operate the Airborne Data-Link System using VHF network to receive the terminal text weather information and print that on the Flight Compartment Printer. Make sure that the cockpit printer is selected ON and has sufficient quantity of paper available. Verify that the cockpit printer output is legible and is identical to the received message. Is the cockpit printer output legible and identical to the received message?

    1. If YES, go to step 6.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  5. Perform wiring checks, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) connector A239BP1 and the Flight Compartment Printer connector A241P1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If YES, go to step 7.
    2. If NO, repair or replace the defective wiring as required per WM 20-12 and do close out.

  6. Perform wiring checks, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) connector A239BP1 and DAU 1 connector A17CP1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If YES, verify that CAIMS fault code 2320021TDY "ADLU ARINC TX 3 FAULT" is not displayed on PMAT and do close out.
    2. If NO, repair or replace the defective wiring as required per WM 20-12 and do close out.

  7. Replace the Airborne Data-Link Unit (ADLU) (ADLU ARINC 429 Transmitter #3 is faulty).
  8. Do close out.
