Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Allow aircraft to cool to the ambient temperature before you do the fault isolation.
  2. Perform a visual inspection of sensing element (Core Engine Fire, Gearbox Fire and Fixed Cowl sensing elements): make sure elements are not bent or in contact with other element. Check also for damaged connector.

    1. If anomalies are found, rectify as required.
    2. If no anomalies are found, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a center conductor resistance check between each terminal lug and perform insulation checks with a megaohmeter using the tables below (Click here for PDF version) for each sensing element (Core Engine Fire, Gearbox Fire and Fixed Cowl sensing elements).
    1. If all Fire Detection sensing element resistance and impedance (insulation) values are good, continue with next step.
    2. If one or more Fire Detection sensing element measurement is/are not good, replace defective sensing.

  4. Perform wiring check between FIDEEX CU (A106P2) and connector (2JB2) (Engine Firewall).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
NOTE: Engine Core fire detection loop B corresponds to Engine Core Firewire Lane A.

  5. Perform wiring check between connector (2PB2) and connector (P721) (Engine Nacelle).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  6. Perform wiring check between connector (P721) and connectors (TB1033) & (TB1035).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  7. Perform wiring check between connector (2PB2) and connector (FW 1).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  8. Perform wiring check between connector (FW 1) and connector (P715).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  9. Perform wiring check between connector (J715) and connector (FW 2).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  10. Replace the FIDEEX Control Unit.
  11. Do close out.
