Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

Troubleshooting Procedure

  1. Make sure that during flight the affected zone Ventilated Temperature Sensor (VTS) is/was not exposed directly to sunlight, blocked by any item (such as baggage, clothing, blankets).

    1. If one of the VTS was affected by the above, correct the situation and do the closeout.
    2. If not affect continue with the next step.

  2. Inspect the affected zone ventilated temperature sensor, make sure the fan is running, this can be checked by placing a small piece of tissue paper approximately one inch away from the VTS inlet. If the tissue is gently pulled into the VTS inlet, this is a sign that the fan is operating correctly.

    1. If the VTS fan is not running, interchange the affected VTS with another zone and monitor.
    2. If fan tests are good, continue with the next step.

  3. Clean the VTS housing inlet. Use a vacuum and small brush to dislodge the obstruction.
  4. Examine the temperature sensor(s) by placing a temperature probe approximately one inch from the VTS housing. The measured temperature should be close to the VTS sensed temperature available on CAIMS under Trim & Cab Temp Sensor data.

    1. If the temperature is matching, do the close out.
    2. If the temperature is not matching, continue with the next step.

  5. If temperature control is still an issue for a single zone, interchange the affected VTS with another zone and monitor.
  6. If multiple zones are affected, run the PACK one at the time to make sure the PACK is providing good heat and cooling as requested.

    1. Go full cold and wait 5-10 minutes for the temperature to stabilize and repeat at full hot for both PACKS.
    2. Make sure the PACK output is cold when asking for full cold. If it is not the case, check for noise or vibration at PACK level and carry out the Air Cycle Machine (ACM) torque checks as per CMM 21-54-08 step D.

  7. Do close out.
