WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight or Floodlights do not come on.

Possible Causes:

  • Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight Bulb
  • Left Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight (DS49)
  • Left Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight (DS48)
  • Right Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight (DS59)
  • Right Main Instrument-Panel Floodlight (DS50)
  • Floodlight Switch
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Set the FLOOD light switch to BRT on the COCKPIT LIGHTS (FLOOD DISPLAY) control panel. Measure the voltage at the connectors that follow:
    For the main instrument-panel floodlights (DS49 and DS59):

    From To Expected Result Result
    SP497-TB1 SP498-TB1 (GND) +28 VDC

    For main instrument-panel floodlights (DS48):

    From To Expected Result Result
    DS48P1-1 DS48P1-2 (GND) +28 VDC

    For main instrument-panel floodlights (DS50):

    From To Expected Result Result
    DS50P1-1 DS50P1-2 (GND) +28 VDC

    1. If there is no voltage, go to step 4.
    2. If there is voltage, continue with next step.

  2. Replace the bulb of the flood light and perform the operational test.

    1. If the flood light operates, do close out.
    2. If the flood light does not operate, continue with next step.

  3. Replace the flood light and perform the operational test.

    1. If the flood light operates, do close out.
    2. If the flood light does not operate, continue with next step.

  4. Disconnect the connectors FLOOD LIGHTS & DISPLAY COCKPIT CONTROL PANEL (AP27P1 and AP27P2). Perform a continuity check between the connectors from DS49, DS48, DS59, DS50 as follows:
    For the LHS floodlight DS49:

    From To Result
    DS49-TBM5239R AP27P1-16
    DS49-TBM5240B GS563

    For the LHS floodlight DS48:

    From To Result
    DS48-TBL3728R AP27P1-18
    DS48-TBL3730B GS562

    For the RHS floodlight DS59:

    From To Result
    DS59-TBP3743R AP27P1-16
    DS59-TBP3735B GS563

    For the RHS floodlight DS50:

    From To Result
    DS50-TBN3722R AP27P2-18
    DS50-TBN3726B GS561

    1. If there is no continuity, repair the defective wiring as required and connect the applicable flood light (DS48, DS49, DS59 and DS50) and connect the disconnected connectors AP27P1 and AP27P2 and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Perform the troubleshooting procedure COCKPIT LIGHTS (FLOOD/DISPLAY) CONTROL PANEL DO NOT COME ON.
  6. Do close out.
