WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The Lightning Sensor System (LSS) Processor does not energize.

Possible Causes:

  • Lightning Sensor Processor (A224)
  • Lightning Sensor System (LSS) Antenna (E55)
  • Audio Control Panel 1 (A8)
  • Audio Control Panel 2 (A9)
  • Audio Control Panel 3 (A215)
  • Lightning Sensor System (LSS) Relay (K1)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check if there is +28 VDC LSS processor (A224) connector as follows:

    LSS Processor Expected Result
    A224BP1-3 +28 VDC

    1. If there is +28 VDC, go to step 5.
    2. If there is no +28 VDC, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check for open circuits between the pins of LSS PROCESSOR connector (A224BP1) and SPDA 3 connector (A15P2) as follows:
    For the LSS processor (A224):

    From To Result
    A224BP1-3 A15P2-H
    A224BP1-4 Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  3. Check if there is a short circuit between the pins of LSS PROCESSOR connector (A224BP1) and Aircraft Ground as follows:
    For the LSS processor (A224):

    From To Result
    A224BP1-3 Ground

    1. If there is a short circuit, repair or replace the defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no short circuit, continue with next step.

  4. Replace LSS processor.
  5. Do close out.
