Message Description:

The Right Generator Control Unit (RGCU) has failed.

Possible Causes:

  • Right Generator Control Unit (RGCU) (PCB6)
  • Right Generator Power Module (RGPM) (PCB8)
  • Right Generator (RGEN) (G2)
  • Right DC Power Center (RDCPC) (A36)
  • Associated Wiring

NOTE: If the MDC is reporting multiple GEN GCU fault messages simultaneously, accompanied by a Proximity Sensing Electronics Unit (PSEU) failure, most likely B3-007551 - PSEU SYSTEM FAILURE or B3-007550 - PSEU OFF/NO OUTPUT, the ATA 32 fault(s) must be addressed first.

NOTE: For troubleshooting purposes you may refer to the Generators Windings Values table.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap the Right Generator Control Unit (PCB6) with the Left Generator Control Unit (PCB5). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the defective Generator Control Unit.
NOTE: Whilst the card is removed, inspect the card contacts and make sure they are clean and free from contamination.

  2. Swap the Right Generator Power Module (PCB8) with the Left Generator Power Module (PCB7). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the defective Generator Power Module.

  3. Perform a wiring check between the right Generator (GEN 2) and the right DC Power Center (A36) as follows:

    From To Results
    G2P1-A A36P1-F
    G2P1-B A36P-G
    G2P1-G A36P1-AA
    G2P1-D A36P1-H
    G2P-F A36P1-h
    G2P1-E A36P1-J
    G2P1-L A36P1-JJ
    G2P1-M A36P1-z
    G2P1-H A36P1-D
    G2P1-J A36P1-d
    G2P1-K A36P1-E

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  4. Swap the Right Generator (G2) with the Left Generator (G1). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the defective Generator.

  5. Replace Right DC Power Center (A36).
  6. Do close out.
