Bulkhead Monitor (LCD) does not display anything, screen stays black.

Possible Causes:

  • Defective LRU
  • Missing Ethernet Decoder Unit (EDU)
  • Defective Harness
  • Associated Wiring

Required Conditions:

  1. Ensure the nice® HD system is booted up completely (power on and wait for about 10 minutes to ensure proper system status reporting).
  2. On Galley Control Panel (GCP) navigate to home, cms equipment page, item "system software" and check the aircraft MSN is contained in "current p/n" (e.g. for Challenger C350, MSN 20613: p/n SCDC350-20613-A or p/n SCDC3-20613-04A).
NOTE: If p/n is incorrect, contact CRC for further instructions.
  3. Check if special requirements apply and ensure necessary tools are available in reference to Software Load Procedure for nice® HD on CL350 (C-ABR142-UG-001), chapter 3. e.g.: DRM update requires internet connection.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

  • SB 350-44-001 - MODIFICATION - Cabin Management System (CMS) - System Configuration Database Software Update

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter:

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the Galley Control Panel (GCP), navigate to home, CMS equipment page and look at the system status.

    1. If system status is reporting "ready", continue with next step.
    2. If LRUs other than EDU (0x01 for fwd LCD, 0x02 for aft LCD) are reporting anything other than "ready", follow the appropriate procedure for these LRUs first.
    3. In case EDU (0x01 for fwd LCD, 0x02 for aft LCD) is reporting anything other than "ready", follow the appropriate procedure.

  2. On the Galley Control Panel (GCP), navigate to the EDU page. Press "display info".

    1. If no display P/N and S/N is shown, the communication to the LCD is not working. Check harness between EDU and LCD.
    2. If display P/N and S/N are shown, continue with next step.

  3. Assign identical video source signal (i.e. Blu-ray Disc Player video) to LCD monitor and a PSM. Is the video signal displayed correctly?

    1. If source video signal is not displayed correctly on LCD and PSM, check the source and follow the appropriate troubleshooting procedure.
    2. If source video signal is not displayed correctly on LCD only, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a wiring check on the interface between the affected components. Pay close attention to the routing of the harness.

    1. If defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  5. Swap the FWD and AFT LCD monitors with identical P/N.

    1. If the failure follows the equipment, replace defective LCD monitor.
    2. If the failure remains on the same side, continue with next step.

  6. Swap the fwd EDU with the aft EDU. Replace the defective component if the fault follows the EDU.
  7. Do close out.
