Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Right AFCS channel is lost or is invalid in air.

Possible Causes:

  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 2 (A10)
  • Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS)
  • ASCB Bus Interface
  • Guidance Panel (GP) (A79)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the CAIMS PMAT, get access to the active faults and look for active faults related to 22-11 INTEGRATED AVIONICS COMPUTER (AFCS) #2.
  2. Do the IMT fault code look-up procedure (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-826) to find the applicable troubleshooting procedures.
  3. Carry out troubleshooting procedures.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring check between IAC2, JB4, aileron servo and elevator servo. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Perform wiring check between IAC3 and JB4. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace IAC2.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Replace JB4.
  8. Do close out.
