Message Description:

FUEL LO QTY (Amber) shows when the following condition occur:

  1. The left or right or both wing fuel tanks have less than approximately 600 lbs (270 kgs).
  2. The aircraft is not in a take-off or landing configuration.

Use this troubleshooting only when above conditions are not met.

Possible Causes:

  • Left Densitometer (A163)
  • Left Compensator (CMPL) (C7)
  • Secondary-Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 2 (A14)
  • Secondary-Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 3 (A15)
  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Fuel Quantity Probes
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

NOTE:

  • As viewed in CAIMS, the Probe Status "GOOD PROBE" indicates the probe is communicating with FMQGC and the probe is reporting a capacitance within a nominal range (between full dry and full wet). The OMS may report the Probe Status as "GOOD PROBE", yet a dry capacitance check per the AMM may find a probe out of AMM limits. The only way to verify if a probe is reporting accurately is to do the Dry Capacitance check IAW AMM task 28−41−00−760−801 Capacitance Test of the Fuel Quantity Probes.
    good probe - bad capacitance

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Using the PMAT, access CAIMS Active Faults. Check if any of the two messages listed below are displayed and select from the menu below:
  2. If none of these messages are displayed in CAIMS, look for messages for the various probes in the different tanks also. If no messages are present, continue with next step.
  3. Review the content of AW700-28-0496.
  4. Do a dry capacitance test of the fuel probes and repair as required and record values on the following data entry form.
  5. Do close out.
