Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Both forward & aft PRI (AC) pumps on the left side have failed.

Possible Causes:

  • AC Power Center (ACPC) Solid State Power Controller (SSPC) 1
  • ACPC SSPC 6
  • Throttle Quadrant Assembly (TQA) (AP41)
  • L Engine RUN Switch (1S1)
  • Fuel Management Quantity and Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Left Fwd AC Boost Pump (B6)
  • Left Aft AC Boost Pump (B7)
  • Left Fwd AC Boost Pump Pressure Switch (S9)
  • Left Aft AC Boost Pump Pressure Switch (S10)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Access CAIMS Active Faults and select displayed message from menu below:
  2. If the left primary AC pumps and the left DC aux pumps are showing inoperative after engine shutdown, continue with next step
  3. With the LH FUEL CUTOFF switch in the OFF position, check for continuity to ground between FMQGC connector A47AP1 pin H12 and ground.

    1. If there is no continuity, continue with next step
    2. If there is continuity, go to step 7

  4. On the TQA, check for continuity of the LH FUEL CUTOFF switch (1S1) between connector A41J2 pins 38 and 46.

    1. If there is continuity, continue with next step
    2. If there is no continuity, replace the TQA

  5. Check for continuity between connector A41P2 pin 38 and airframe ground.

    1. If there is no continuity, check the ground stud or repair defective wiring as required
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step

  6. Perform wiring checks between the FMQGC and the left Engine Fuel Cutoff switch and repair as required
  7. Remove the FMQGC and rerack the unit fully and perform a test of the system. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  8. Access the ACPC logic assembly. Swap SSPC 6 (L FWD PRI PUMP) with SSPC 4 (spare card). Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective SSPC card.

  9. Swap SSPC 1 (L AFT PRI PUMP) with SSPC 4 (spare card). Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective SSPC card.

  10. Contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center for further troubleshooting.
  11. Do close out.
