  • The indication is that the cross-feed shut-off valve is open.

This troubleshooting applies when it is not under normal conditions.

Possible Causes:

  • Fuel Control Panel (AP5)
  • XFEED SOV Switch (SDS3)
  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • XFEED SOV Valve (L34)
  • Secondary Power Distribution Assembly 2
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

The XFEED VALVE OPEN (Status) CAS does not display when the XFEED SOV switch is turned "ON".

  1. Turn ON aircraft power and the CAIMS PMAT.

    • Access CAIMS.
    • Select System Diagnostics.
    • Select 28-00 Fuel.
    • Select Computer (FMQGC CH A(B))
    • Select LRU Test.
    • Select Cockpit fuel panel data - CH A(B).

  2. Scroll through the pages and find XFEED VALVE DATA:
  3. On the Fuel control panel (AP5) select the XFEED SOV Switch.
  4. Does the XFEED VALVE OPEN STATE status change from NOT OPEN to NOT CLOSED on the PMAT page?

    1. If the status changes, then go to step 10.
    2. If the status does not change, continue with the next step.

  5. On the PMAT does the XFEED VALVE LMS (OPEN) FAIL STATUS show FAILED?

    1. If YES, then go to step 10.
    2. If NO, then continue with the next step.

  6. Gain access to the FMQGC (A47) and remove FMQGC from the tray.
  7. Perform the wiring continuity test per the table below:
NOTE: Turn ON aircraft power for these wire checks.

SWITCH POSITION FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
XFEED SOV (OPEN) A47AP1 - F13 Airframe Ground OPEN
XFEED SOV (OPEN) A47AP1 - H13 Airframe Ground Continuity

    1. If the wiring at A47AP1 - F13 is not OPEN then continue with next step.
    2. If the wiring at A47AP1 - H13 does not have a ground then go to step 12.
    3. If the wiring check is not good, then continue with next step.

  8. Remove the fuel control panel (AP5), disconnect AP5P1.
  9. Perform the wiring continuity test per the table below:

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    AP5J1 - 31 AP5J1 - 15 OPEN

    1. If the wiring check is not good, suspect the XFEED Switch (SDS2), or the Fuel Control Panel.
    2. If the wiring check is good then continue with the next step.

  10. Re-install or re-rack the FMQGC making sure it is fully and properly pushed into place. Is the fault still present?

    1. If the CAS does not display, then do close out.
    2. If the CAS displays, continue with next step.

  11. On the PMAT does the XFEED VALVE LMS (OPEN) FAIL STATUS show FAILED?

    1. If YES, continue with the next step.
    2. If NO, suspect the XFEED Shutoff Valve (L34)

  12. Gain access to the XFEED Valve and remove connector L34P1. Perform wiring check per table below.
NOTE: Turn ON aircraft power for these wire checks.

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    L34P1 - D Airframe Ground 28 VDC
    L34P1 - E Airframe Ground Continuity

    1. If 28 VDC is no present on L34P1 - D then suspect SPDA #2.
    2. If no ground is present on L34P1 - E then repair or replace wiring, or suspect GS434.
    3. If the wiring check is good then continue with the next step.

  13. Suspect the FMQGC (A47).
  14. Do close out.
