Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Overview:

HYD 3 LO QTY
(Caution)

DDG Reference: 29-31-03
Pilot Action (QRH): ABNORM 10-15
System Description: 29-30-00
Schematic Diagram: 29-13-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 29-00-05 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

The No. 3 hydraulic system fluid quantity is below 29 % in flight (Weight off Wheels) with main gears up and lock.

OR

See the correlation tables below for hydraulic quantity message trigger limits on the ground (Weight on Wheels):

HYDRAULIC FLUID TEMPERATURE QUANTITY
≥-40˚C to ≤-17˚C <19%
-16˚C to ≤4˚C <26%
5˚C to ≤26˚C <33%
27˚C to ≤49˚C <40%
50˚C to ≤71˚C <47%
72˚C to ≤93˚C <54%

Aircraft Condition: Weight on Wheels, system pressurized above 2600 psi and condition set for more than 2 minutes.

Possible Causes:

  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 (A30)
  • Reservoir 3 Quantity Transducer (MT145)
  • Associated Wiring

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: Hydraulic System - Fluid Transfer AW 700T-002

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: Infoservice 2002-April issue 02

NOTE 1: If hydraulic system 2 qty. is high while system 3 qty. is low, follow instructions in Observed Fault - Hydraulic fluid transfer

NOTE 2: To avoid hydraulic fluid transfer from one system to another, follow procedure in FCOM1 04-09-1 when setting the parking brake.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

NOTE: An engine run-up may be required to verify for a leak at the EDP drain mast.

NOTE: For a suspected component leak in the wings, a fuel sample may be required and send to a lab to verify for content of hydraulic fluid in the fuel.

  1. Ensure Hydraulic System No. 3 is properly serviced.

    1. If system low quantity found, service system. Check system for leaks. If no leaks are noted, do to close out.
    2. If quantity is good, continue with next step.

  2. Swap DAUs.

    1. If fault is no longer present. Replace failed DAU. do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring check between hydraulic system no. 3 reservoir quantity transducer (MT145) and DAU 3.

    1. If faults are found/repaired and message clears, do a close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Carry out an external visual check of the hydraulic system which includes all lines and their component(s). Replace as necessary.

    1. If faults are found/repaired and message clears, do a close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Replace Hydraulic Reservoir No. 3.
  6. Do close out.
