Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The internal temperature of an IAC 1 is higher than the safe maximum limit of approximately 72°C.

Possible Causes:

  • The ventilation inlet and/or cooling fan of Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 1 has a blockage
  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 1 Battery
  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 1 Configuration Module
  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 1

NOTE: In this condition, IAC 1 can possibly transmit incorrect data to other aircraft systems.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the CAIMS PMAT, get access to system diagnostics (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-804) and do the IAC EDS/Core Test.
  2. After each test is completed, look for the TEST RESULTS page and record the fault type and code(s) for each IMT fault.
  3. Do the IMT fault code look-up procedure (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-826) to find the applicable troubleshooting procedures.
  4. Carry out troubleshooting procedures.
  5. Do close out.
