Message Overview:

DAU 2A FAIL
(Advisory)

DDG Reference: None
Pilot Action (QRH): AVNC 02-22
System Description: 31-42-00
Schematic Diagram: 31-42-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 31-42-02 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

There is no data transmission from the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 2 channel A.

Possible Causes:

There is no data transmission from the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 2 channel A.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

  • AW700-45-0002 - CAIMS Member System Functionality Status LDI Sparrow.037

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter:

There are 4 DAUs in the system. Some signals are redundant between DAUs and each DAU has two fully redundant channels. The channels are independent of each other and each has its own power supply, processor, ASCB and ARINC interface, discrete and analog input/outputs. Since the DAU is a data collection, conversion and transmission device, the failure can have impact to many systems.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

NOTE: Consult Data Acquisition Unit - NFF Reduction Troubleshooting Tips: before troubleshooting this fault.

  1. Swap DAU 2 with another DAU.

    1. If fault is transferred or gone, go to step 3 and record IMT code to identify the cause of failure of DAU 2.
    2. If not, continue.

  2. Perform wiring checks of DAU 2A interface.

    1. If wiring is good, continue with next step.
    2. if wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.

  3. Connect CAIMS PMAT do the system diagnostics ASCB System TEST (NOTE: original defective DAU 2).

    1. If test passed go to step 4.
    2. If an IMT fault code was generated look up the code and do the corrective action.

  4. Connect CAIMS PMAT do the system diagnostics IAC EDS/Core Test for IAC 1.

    1. If test passed go to step 5.
    2. If an IMT fault code was generated look up the code and do the corrective action.

  5. Connect CAIMS PMAT do the system diagnostics IAC EDS/Core Test for IAC 2.

    1. If test passed go to step 6.
    2. If an IMT fault code was generated look up the code and do the corrective action.

  6. Connect CAIMS PMAT do the system diagnostics IAC EDS/Core Test for IAC 3.

    1. If test passed go to step 7.
    2. If an IMT fault code was generated look up the code and do the corrective action.

  7. Do close out.
