Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Aircraft is on ground and the APU oil quantity probe is sensing less than 3.5 qt (3.3 L) as reported by the APU FADEC.

Possible Causes:

  • Oil Level Sensor (MT2)
  • Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) (A108)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check oil quantity at APU.

    1. If low, check for leaks, investigate low quantity. Go to step 6.
    2. If quantity is good continue.

  2. Check CAIMS for any additional APU messages.

    1. If additional messages found trouble shoot accordingly.
    2. If no additional messages continue.

  3. Perform wiring check between APU FADEC and the oil quantity probe (MT2P1).

    1. If wiring fault found. Repair wiring go to step 6.
    2. If wiring checks good continue.

  4. Replace oil quantity probe.

    1. If fault clears go to step 6.
    2. If fault remains continue.

  5. Replace APU FADEC.
  6. Do close out.
