Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

R ENG FUEL SOV CLSD (Status) when the conditions that follow occur:

  • The right engine fire handle is pulled.
  • The right engine feed shutoff-valve is closed.
  • R ENG SOVS CLSD (status), is not shown.

This troubleshooting applies when it is not under normal conditions.

Possible Causes:

  • RH Engine Feed Shut-off Valve (L39)
  • Fuel Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • RH FIREX Handle (A210)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

The R FUEL SOV CLSD (Status) CAS message is posted with RH FIREX handle not pulled.

  1. On the CAIMS PMAT do the steps that follow:

    • Select CAIMS
    • Select System Diagnostics
    • Select 28-00 FUEL
    • Select Computer (FMQGC CH A(B))
    • Select LRU TEST
    • Select FIRE SHUTOFF DATA CH A(B)

Troubleshooting for handle discrepancy:

  1. If the status for the fire handle shows PULLED then remove the RH ENG FIREX handle and disconnect A210P1. Perform a wiring continuity check below.

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    A210P1 - 15 A210P1 - 4 OPEN

    1. If the wiring check shows continuity, then replace the RH FIREX Handle A210.
    2. If the wiring check is good, continue with the next step.

  2. Remove the FMQGC from the tray and perform the wiring continuity check below.

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    A47DP1 - E12 Airframe Ground OPEN

    1. If the wiring check shows continuity, repair or replace the wiring from the Fire handle to the FMQGC.
    2. If the wiring check is good, continue with the next step.

  3. Re-rack or re-install the FMQGC making sure it is fully and properly pushed into place. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, then suspect the FMQGC.
    2. If NO, continue with the next step.

  4. Do close out.

Troubleshooting for a RH feed valve discrepancy:

  1. If the status for the RIGHT ENG FEED VALVE CLOSED STATUS shows CLOSED then remove the RH ENG FIREX handle and disconnect A210P1. Perform a wiring check below.

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    A210P1 - 30 A210P1 - 14 OPEN

    1. If the wiring check shows continuity, then replace the RH FIREX Handle A210.
    2. If the wiring check is good, continue with the next step.

  2. Remove the FMQGC from the tray and perform the wiring continuity check below.

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULT RESULT
    A47DP1 - C12 Airframe Ground OPEN

    1. If the wiring check is not good, suspect the R ENGINE FEED SHUTOFF VALVE (L39).
    2. If the wiring check is good, continue with the next step.

  3. Re-rack or re-install the FMQGC making sure it is fully and properly pushed into place. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, then suspect the FMQGC.
    2. If NO, continue with the next step.

  4. Do close out.
