These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Emergency Ram Air Valve (ERAV) has been detected open while it is not commended to opening by the Push Button Annunciator (PBA).
Or
The ERAV has been detected closed while it is commended to opening by the Push Button Annunciator (PBA).

  • Air Conditioning System Controller 2 (A88)
  • Bleed Air Control Panel (AP8)
  • Data Acquisition Units (DAU) 1 (A17)
  • Data Acquisition Units (DAU) 2 (A18)
  • Emergency Ram Air Valve (ERAV) (L25)
  • Secondary-Power Distribution Assemblies 1 (A13)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Using CAIMS, under LRU test, look at the discrete inputs for DAU 1. Make sure RAV Open (D21) and RAV Close (D28) are in accordance with the RAV switch position.". Then Select RAV to On. Make sure the Status change accordingly.

    1. If its satisfactory, go to step 9.
    2. If its not satisfactory, then continue with next step.

  2. Perform a wiring checks between RAV and DAU 1.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a wiring checks between RAV and Bleed Air Control Panel.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a wiring checks of the Control Panel itself and its grounds.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Perform a wiring checks of the RAV ground.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  6. Make sure power is available from SPDA 1.
  7. Swap DAU 1 with DAU 2.

    1. If the system check is good, replace DAU 1 and do close out.
    2. If the fault remains, continue with next step.

  8. Replace RAV.

    1. If the system check is good, do close out.
    2. If the fault remains, continue with next step.

  9. Using CAIMS, under LRU test, look at the discrete inputs for DAU 2. Make sure Ram Air On Selected show position in accordance with the switch selection. Then Select RAV to On. Make sure the Status changes accordingly.

    1. If its not satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If its satisfactory, go to step 13.

  10. Perform a wiring checks of the wires between DAU 2 and Bleed Air Control Panel AP8.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  11. Perform a wiring checks of the Control Panel itself and its grounds.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  12. Swap DAU 2 with DAU 1.

    1. If the system check is good, replace DAU 2 and do close out.
    2. If the fault remains, continue with next step.

  13. Using CAIMS, under LRU test, look at the discrete inputs for ACSC 2. Make sure RAV show "Close". Then Select RAV to On. Make sure the Status changes to "Open".

    1. If its satisfactory, do close out.
    2. If its not satisfactory, continue with next step.

  14. Perform a wiring checks of the wires between ACSC 2 and Bleed Air Control Panel AP8.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  15. Perform a wiring checks of the Control Panel itself and its grounds.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair the defective associated wiring and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  16. Replace ACSC 2.
  17. Do close out.
