Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Message Overview:

Fault Message:

SELCAL HF 1

Fault Code:

0000SCHF1

Associated CAS:

SELCAL HF 1
(Advisory)

Reporting LRU: Selective Calling System (SELCALL)
System Description: 23-22-00
Schematic Diagram: 23-22-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 23-22-01 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

NOTE: SELCAL HF 1 (Cyan) does not represent a failure of the Selective Calling System (SELCAL).

The following troubleshooting addresses the condition when the encoded SELCAL signal was sent to aircraft and is not displayed on EICAS primary display unit and the related SELCAL audio alert is not heard.

NOTE: The SELCAL system is a non-CAIMS compliant system.

Possible Causes:

  • Selective Calling System (SELCAL) Code Terminal-Module
  • Selective Calling (SELCAL) Decoder (A20)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter:None

Make sure HF 1 is fully operative.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Do a power check on the SELCAL decoder connector as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    A20CP1-2 A20CP1-3 +28 VDC

    1. If there is +28 VDC, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no +28 VDC, continue with next step.

  2. Check if there is +28 VDC on the SPDA No. 4 connector A16P1-C.

    1. If there is no +28 VDC, perform the fault isolation for the SPDA No. 4 and do close out.
    2. If there is +28 VDC, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a wiring check, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between SELCAL decoder connector A20CP1 and SPDA No. 4 connector A16P1 and the ground stud GS28. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective associated wiring as required and do close out. (WM 20-12)
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a wiring check and pin/socket retention check between SELCAL decoder connector A20BP1-8A and GM17-A. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective associated wiring as required and do close out. (WM 20-12)
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  5. On the SELCAL decoder connector A20BP1 perform a wiring check for the correct strapping of the SELCAL code terminal-module. Is the strapping of the SELCAL code terminal-module correct?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective associated wiring as required and do close out. (WM 20-12)
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a wiring check, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the SELCAL decoder connector A20BP1 and HF 1 transceiver connector A49P1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective associated wiring as required and do close out. (WM 20-12)
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  7. Perform a wiring check, short to ground and pin/socket retention check between the SELCAL decoder connector A20BP1 and DAU #3 connector A30BP1. Is it satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair or replace the defective associated wiring as required and do close out. (WM 20-12)
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Replace the SELCAL decoder (A20).
  9. Do close out.
