Fault Description:
Generator Control Unit (GCU) 1 has detected a failure (open circuit) associated with the Open POR/FEED/GEN circuit and consequently generator 1 trips off-line. Inhibited during Take-Off and Landing.
Possible Causes:
- Generator Control Unit (GCU) 1 (A56)
- Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 1 (G1)
- Associated Wiring
Troubleshooting Tips:
Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None
Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None
A GCU patch cable (GSE REF # 24X-24-02) can be used to swap GCUs 1, 4 and 5 into position 2 or 3 (for troubleshooting only)
The GCU NVMs can only be downloaded at position #2 or #3

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Swap GCU 1 with GCU 2 (physically or using the GCU patch cable). Is the fault still present?
- If YES, continue with next step.
- If NO, replace defective GCU.
- Disconnect connector A56P1 (GCU 1) and A54P6 (ACPC). Do a continuity checks as follow:
From To Result A56P1-A Ground A56P1-B Ground A56P1-C Ground - If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If there is no continuity, continue with next step.
- Do a continuity checks as follow:
From To Result A56P1-A A54P6-A A56P1-B A54P6-B A56P1-C A54P6-C - If there is continuity, continue with next step.
- If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- Do a continuity checks as follow:
From To Result VFG 1 stud T1 ACPC stud T1 VFG1 Stud T2 ACPC stud T2 VFG 1 Stud T3 ACPC stud T3 - If there is continuity, continue with next step.
- If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- Disconnect ACPC studs T1, T2 and T3. Do a continuity checks as follow:
From To Result VFG 1 stud T1 Ground VFG1 Stud T2 Ground VFG 1 Stud T3 Ground - If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If there is no continuity, continue with next step.
- Do a continuity checks on the ACPC as follow:
From To Result A54P6-A Ground A54P6-B Ground A54P6-C Ground - If there is continuity, repair wiring as required and do close out.
- If there is no continuity, continue with next step.
- Do a continuity checks on the ACPC as follow:
From To Result A54P6-A ACPC stud T1 A54P6-B ACPC stud T2 A54P6-C ACPC stud T3 - If there is continuity, continue with next step.
- If there is no continuity, repair wiring as required and do close out.
- Swap VFG 1 with VFG 2. Is the fault still present?
- If YES, continue with next step.
- If NO, replace defective VFG.
- Replace ACPC.
- Do close out.
