Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Schematic Diagram: 24-21-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 24-21-01 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 1 has tripped off-line or will not come on-line.

Possible Causes:

  • Generator Control Unit (GCU) 1 (A56)
  • Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 1 (G1)
  • Line Current Transformer Assembly (LCTA)
  • AC Power Center (ACPC) (A54)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap the GCU #1 with GCU #2 (physically or using the GCU patch cable).
NOTE: Use PMAT to monitor the fault on GCU.

    1. If system checks are good, replace GCU #1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Disconnect connector PL1 on LCTA 1 and perform a continuity check (open circuit = failure) on LCTA1 as follows:

    From To Result
    PL1-1 PL1-4
    PL1-2 PL1-4
    PL1-3 PL1-4

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  3. Replace LCTA1.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Disconnect connector A56P2 (GCU 1) and perform a continuity check between GCU1 connector A56P2 and LCTA1 connector PL1 as follows:

    From To Result
    A56P2-62 PL1-4
    A56P2-63 PL1-3
    A56P2-57 PL1-2
    A56P2-49 PL1-1

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 6.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Disconnect connector A54P6 (ACPC) and perform a continuity check (open circuit = failure) between GCU1 connector A56P2 and ACPC connector A54P6 as follows:

    From To Result
    A56P2-62 A54P6-H
    A56P2-63 A54P6-G
    A56P2-57 A54P6-F
    A56P2-49 A54P6-E

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 7.
    2. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring and do close out.
NOTE: Call Bombardier for decision to repair ACPC wiring or replace ACPC.

  6. Disconnect connector A54P6 (ACPC) and leave PL1 disconnected. Perform a wiring check (short circuit = failure) at connector A54P6 between pins H, G, F and E.

    1. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
    2. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring and do close out.

  7. Replace ACPC.
  8. Do close out.
