These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Generator Control Unit (GCU) 1 has received a Generator Line Contactor (GLC) Inhibit (GLC INH) signal from the AC Power Center (ACPC) or has detected a failure in its internal GLC inhibit sensing circuit.

Possible Causes:

  • Generator Control Unit (GCU) 1 (A56)
  • AC Power Center (ACPC) (A54)
  • Primary Logic Card (PLC) 1
  • Primary Logic Card (PLC) 2
  • Primary Logic Card (PLC) 3
  • Associated Wiring

A GCU patch cable (GSE REF # 24X-24-02) can be used to swap GCUs 1, 4 and 5 into position 2 or 3 (for troubleshooting only). The GCU NVMs can only be downloaded at position #2 or #3.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap GCU 1 with GCU 2 (physically or using the GCU patch cable).
    NOTE: Use PMAT to monitor the fault on GCU.

    1. If system checks are good, replace GCU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Remove PLC 1. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, install a new PLC in the 1 position and do close out.
    2. If YES, re-install PLC 1 and continue with next step.

  3. Remove PLC 2. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, install a new PLC in the 2 position and do close out.
    2. If YES, re-install PLC 2 and continue with next step.

  4. Remove PLC 3. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, install a new PLC in the 2 position and do close out.
    2. If YES, re-install PLC 2 and continue with next step.

  5. Remove PLC 1, PLC 2, PLC 3 and carry out a wiring checks on GCU 1. Disconnect GCU 1 connector A56P2 and using a multimeter, check for a ground short fault on A56P2-29.

    1. If a ground short fault is not detected, go to step 7.
    2. If a ground short fault is detected, continue with next step.

  6. On ACPC, disconnect connector A54P6. On connector A56P2, using a multimeter, check for a ground short fault on A56P2-29.

    1. If the ground short fault is no longer present, go to step 7.
    2. If the ground short fault is still present, repair or replace the wire harness between GCU 1 and the ACPC and do close out.

  7. Replace the ACPC.
  8. Do close out.
