Fault detected on Variable Frequency Generator (VFG) 2 Oil Temperature Bulb or the Generator Control Unit (GCU) 2 Sensing Circuit by the continuous Built-In Test (BIT) monitoring, consequently resulting in Generator 2 being tripped off-line or not come on-line.

A GCU patch cable (GSE REF # 24X-24-02) can be used to swap GCU 1, GCU 2, GCU 3, GCU 4 and the APU GCU into a different position (for troubleshooting only). You can monitor the GCU faults in CAIMS via the active faults page.

1. Disconnect GCU 2 connector A57P2 and VFG 2 connector G2P1. Perform a continuity check as follows:

   From	To	Result
   A57P2-24	Ground
   A57P2-60	Ground

   1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
   2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

   From	To	Result
   A57P2-24	G2P1-A
   A57P2-60	G2P1-M

   1. If there is continuity, continue with next step.
   2. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.

3. Swap the GCU 2 with GCU 1. Is the fault still present?

   1. If YES, continue with next step.
   2. If NO, replace GCU 2 and do close out.

4. Replace VFG 2.
5. Do close out.
