Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Battery temperature out of range detected by the AC Power Center (ACPC) AC-to-DC Converter Card (A9).

Possible Causes:

  • AC Power Center (ACPC) AC-to-DC Converter Card
  • Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Battery (A89)
  • AC Power Center (ACPC) (A54)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove the ACPC A/D converter card (A9) and disconnect APU battery connector A89P1.
  2. Perform a wiring checks between APU battery and ACPC.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Replace ACPC.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Refer to drawing APU Batt jumper Install the two jumpers between the pins that follows:

    From To
    A89J1-Y A89P1-M
    A89J1-K A89P1-a

  5. Make sure the ACPC A/D converter card is installed.
  6. Select DC synoptic page. Check APU battery temperature.

    1. If temperature is within normal range, go to step 8.
    2. If temperature is out of range, continue with new step.

  7. Replace A/D converter card.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  8. Replace the APU Battery.
  9. Do close out.
