Fault Description:
The AC Power Center (ACPC) Primary Logic Card has detected a RS422 transmission failure with Generator Control Unit (GCU) 3 during loop back test at power-up. Even though it can no longer communicate with the ACPC through the RS422 bus, the GCU remains operational.
Possible Causes:
- Generator Control Unit (GCU) 3 (A58)
- AC Power Center (ACPC) Primary Logic Card (PLC) 2
- AC Power Center (ACPC) (A54)
- Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Swap GCU 3 with GCU 1, 2, 4 or APU GCU. Is the fault resolved?
- If YES, replace GCU 3 and do close out.
- If NO, continue with next step.
- Access ACPC logic assembly. Swap PLC 2 with PLC 3. Is the fault still present?
- If NO, replace PLC 2 and do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Disconnect GCU 3 connector A58P2. Remove PLC 2. Perform a continuity check as follows:
From To Result A58P2-9 Ground A58P2-15 Ground - If there is continuity, go to step 5.
- If there is no continuity, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check as follows:
From To Result A58P2-9 P115B-44 A58P2-15 P115B-45 - If there is continuity, replace PLC 2 and do close out.
- If there is no continuity, go to step 6.
- Disconnect ACPC connector A54P3. Perform a continuity check as follows:
From To Result A58P2-9 Ground A58P2-15 Ground - If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If there is no continuity, go to step 7.
- Disconnect ACPC connector A54P3. Perform a continuity check as follows:
From To Result A58P2-9 A54P3-a A58P2-15 A54P3-b - If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If there is continuity, continue with next step.
- Replace ACPC.
- Do close out.
