Message Overview:

Fault Message:

ESS TRU 2 FAN FAILED

Fault Code:

2460472DCP

Associated CAS:

ELEC SYS FAULT
(Advisory)

Reporting LRU: DC Power Center (DCPC)
System Description: 24-31-00
Schematic Diagram: 24-31-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 24-31-01 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

The Essential Transformer Rectifier Unit (ESS TRU) 2 Fan Speed Sensor is low or no fan output to the DC Power Center (DCPC).

Possible Causes:

  • Essential Transformer Rectifier Unit (ESS TRU) 2 (A76)
  • DC Power Quality Monitor (DCPQM) 2
  • DC Power Center (DCPC) (A63)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

NOTE: The ESS TRU 2 fan fail will show on the DC synoptic page, as the ESS TRU 2 outline will be amber and the TRU output voltage is approximately 28 VDC.

NOTE: If the TRU voltage displayed on the DC synoptic page is different than 28 VDC, check that all three 115 VAC input phases are present. A missing phase could result in the fan not spinning.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Get Access to the FWD bay to check for the airflow of the ESS TRU 2 and confirm if the fan is rotating or not.

    1. If the fan is not rotating, replace ESS TRU 2 and do close out.
    2. If the fan is rotating, continue with next step.

  2. Swap ESS TRU 2 with another TRU.

    1. If system checks are good, replace the ESS TRU 2 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Disconnect ESS TRU 2 connector A76P1 and DCPC connector A63P2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A76P1-D Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A76P1-D A63P2-C

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Access the DCPC Logic assembly and remove the DCPQM 2 card. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A63P2-C Ground

    1. If there is continuity, replace DCPC and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A63P2-C P221A-11

    1. If there is no continuity, replace DCPC and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  7. Replace the DCPQM 2 card.
  8. Do close out.
