RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Secondary Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 3 right microprocessor and Electrical Management System Control and Display Unit (EMS CDU) 1 communication timeout or overflow. This is an internal failure.

Possible Causes:

  • Secondary Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 3 (A15)
  • Electrical Management System Control and Display Unit (EMS CDU) 1 (A94)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On EMS CDU 1, enter Diagnostic mode.

    1. Select the SYSTEM - CNTL key.
    2. Select the lower left side key.
    3. Select the lower right side key.

  2. On EMS CDU 1, Select SYSTEM - TEST key. You are now in the Signboard menu page.

    1. Select Assembly via the left side key.
    2. Select the right side key and increment to SPDA 3.
    3. Select Virgin Start via the left side key.
    4. Select the right side key to perform the virgin start.

  3. Cycle the A/C power. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  4. Replace SPDA 3.
  5. Do close out.
