WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

This message shows when the Fire Detection and Extinguishing Control Unit (FIDEEX CU) senses that Smoke Detector 2 in the Baggage Compartment is defective or that both the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 and FIDEEX do not receive the alarm signal.

Possible Causes:

  • Fire Detection and Extinguishing Control Unit (FIDEEX CU) (A106)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 (A30)
  • Smoke Detector 2 (A114)
  • Associated Wiring

NOTE: If both sides (DMC and Fideex) are not receiving the alarm, this condition will display an EICAS FAIL message: SMOKE AV RACK FAIL (Amber) for G5000 and SMOKE CABIN FAIL for XRS.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Measure for 28 VDC at Smoke Detector 2 (A114P1).

    1. If there is 28 VDC, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no 28 VDC, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks between FIDEEX CU (A106P1) and Smoke Detector 2 (A114P1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Replace FIDEEX CU.

    1. If system checks are good, do the close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring checks between Smoke Detector 2 (A114P1) and DAU 3 (A30AP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Swap DAU 3 with DAU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace DAU 3 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace Smoke Detector 2.
  7. Do close out.
