Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Stall Protection Computer (SPC) CH A does not receive the SLAT signal from SLAT/FLAP Control Unit (SFCU) 1 or SFCU 2.

Possible Causes:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
  • Stall Protection Computer (SPC) (A40)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Verify that the STALL WARN ADVANCE (amber) EICAS message is displayed on power-up.
  2. Using the PMAT, access CAIMS to view active or stored faults related to SFCU 1 and SFCU 2.

    1. If a fault(s) is reported, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no fault reported, continue with next step.

  3. Perform the electronic rigging of the SLAT and FLAP control system. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  4. Troubleshoot and any clear flap system fault using the associated SmartFix Plus troubleshooting page. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  5. Swap SFCU 1 with SFCU 2. Is the fault still present on the same channel?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective SFCU.

  6. Perform wiring checks between both SFCUs and the SPC.

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  7. Replace the Stall Protection Computer (SPC).
  8. Do close out.
