Fault Description:
When one of the conditions that follow occurs:
- There is a short circuit condition in the brake drive
- The outputs to the Slat Left Asymmetry Brake do not agree with inputs from the brake
Possible Causes:
- Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
- Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
- Left Slat Asymmetry Brake (A130)
- Associated Wiring
Troubleshooting Tips:
Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None
Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None
Ensure the vent hole cover decal is properly installed on the top drain hole to avoid any debris accumulation, which can affect the asymmetry brake functionality (Refer to SIL 470 Rev B from Hamilton Sundstrand). Hamilton Sundstrand released VSB FAS02AB-27-1 for upgrading the asymmetry brake to -3.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Swap SFCU 1 with SFCU 2.
- If system checks are good, replace defective SFCU 1 and do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: ”SFCU 1 is the left side (channel 1) controller. SFCU 2 is the right side (channel 2) controller".
- Perform a resistance check of the left slat asymmetry brake as follows:
From To Expected Result Result A124CP1-57 A124CP1-58 3.0 - 17 ohms A95CP1-57 A95CP1-58 3.0 - 17 ohms NOTE: Performing this resistance check will verify the interface wiring in addition to the asymmetry brake.
- If the resistance is out of tolerance, continue with next step.
- If the resistance is within tolerance, do close out.
- perform a resistance check of the slat left asymmetry brake as follows:
From To Expected Result Result A130P1-A A130P1-C 1.5 - 4.0 ohms A130P1-D A130P1-F 1.5 - 4.0 ohms - If the resistance of the asymmetry brake is within tolerance, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If out of tolerance, continue with next step.
- Replace Left Slat Asymmetry Brake.
- Do close out.
