Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Fault Description:

Rigging of the Slat System is incorrect. Data from the Data Acquisition Units (DAUs) does not compare with the data stored in the Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) non-volatile memory for the below conditions:

  • Out of tolerance rigging data
  • Dates that do not agree
  • Aircraft serial numbers that do not agree

Possible Causes:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

This fault is normal if both SFCUs have never been installed on the A/C.

This fault is normal if an IAC was replaced and the A/C identification in CAIMS is not same as the A/C. The fault should clear after performing the installation procedure of the IAC.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Confirm the A/C identification (SN of aircraft) time & date are good and agree for each of the three IACs.

    1. If all data are good and agree, continue with next step.
    2. If data does not agree, adjust and set the three IACs.

  2. To access the aircraft ID:

    Aircraft Identification (ID) Mode
    Make this selection Result
    START
    AIRCRAFT DIAGNOSTICS
DEFINE AIRCRAFT ID The AIRCRAFT ID menu shows
Use the up/dn arrows as necessary to increase or decrease the aircraft ID numbers
APPLY Writes the new aircraft ID number into the NVM of the IACs
    CANCEL Cancels the menu

    1. If both SFCUs are reporting that the slats and flaps are rigged, continue with next step.
    2. If both SFCUs are reporting that the slats and flaps are not rigged, perform a complete rigging of the slats and flaps for SFCU installation.

      1. If system checks are good, do close out.
      2. If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: It is very important to perform the electrical rigging on the SFCU that is not reporting the fault because this will confirm the cross talk communication busses integrity.

  3. Perform wiring checks between SFCU 1 and 2 rack connectors (cross talk communication busses) as follow:

    From To Result
    A124AP1-60 A95AP1-61
    A124AP1-73 A95AP1-74
    A124AP1-61 A95AP1-60
    A124AP1-74 A95AP1-73

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the defective SFCU and perform slat electrical rigging on the SFCU that was not reporting the fault.
  5. Do close out.
