Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

There is a problem with the pilot’s Roll Control Input Module (RCIM).

Possible Causes:

  • Roll Control Input Module (RCIM) (MT133)
  • Flight-Control Units (FCU) 2 (A66)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove the FCU 2 to get access to the electrical connectors A66EP1 and A66BP1 and disconnect the pilot RCIM electrical connector MT133P1. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    A66BP1-6C MT133P1-7
    A66BP1-5C MT133P1-13
    A66BP1-5D MT133P1-8
    A66EP1-12B MT133P1-10
    A66EP1-12A MT133P1-9

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A66BP1-6C Ground
    A66BP1-5C Ground
    A66BP1-5D Ground
    A66EP1-12B Ground
    A66EP1-12A Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  3. Swap FCU 2 with FCU 1. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace FCU 2 and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the RCIM.
  5. Do close out.
