Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

It is not an AOG condition for a fan failure in FCU and therefore no CAS message is posted. Replace affected FCU when available.

  • Each Flight control Module (FCM) commands and monitors one FAN
  • FAN test is performed during CPOST of the Flight Control Unit (FCU) in three steps:

    1. FAN 's power supply test.
    2. Command FAN validity check.
    3. FAN rotation check.

NOTE: In the case of any FAN failure detected on CPOST, there is no effect on FCU operation (i.e wait for next scheduled maintenance)

  • FCU operating.

    1. With the Flight Control Units (FCU-9) pre-amdt D (amdt D done on attrition since Oct 2004), FAN A (FCM A) operate when temperature is over 50 °C and FAN B (FCM B) triggers at 20 °C (Airflow direction comes from the LRU)
    2. With the Flight Control Units (FCU-9) amdt D (cut in s/n 650 and up), both FANs operate when temperature is over 20 °C (Airflow direction goes inside the LRU)
