Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

R FWD AC BOOST PUMP LMS/WRG FAULT shows on the CAIMS PMAT when the Conditions that follow occur:

  • The R WING FEED INHIBIT PRI PUMP Switch on the FUEL Control Panel is not set to OFF
  • The Right Engine is on, the Left Engine is on with the Cross-Feed Valve open, or the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is on
  • The Right Forward Boost-Pump Pressure-Indication is low
  • The aircraft has a pitch angle less than 6 degrees
  • The Electrical Management System (EMS) / AC Power Center (ACPC) has a failure

OR

  • The R WING FEED INHIBIT PRI PUMP Switch on the FUEL Control Panel is set to OFF
  • The Right Engine and the APU are off and the Left Engine is not on with the Cross-Feed Valve open
  • The Right Forward Boost-Pump Pressure-Indication is high
  • The EMS/ACPC has a failure

  • AC Power Center (ACPC)/Solid-State Power Controller (SSPC) 8 (A54)
  • AC Power Center (ACPC) Secondary Logic Card
  • Right FWD Boost Pump (B22)
  • Fuel Management Quantity and Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Select the ACPC A (B) LOAD STATUS LABEL 014, LOAD 2 (R FWD PRI PUMP, Phase A) page, via the CAIMS on the PMAT. Set the right ENGINE RUN switch to ON and the R PRIM PUMPS switch/light to ON (Pushed out). Make sure the result that follows are met:

    VIRTUAL CIRCUIT BREAKER (SSPC CIRCUIT BREAKER) IN
    VIRTUAL SWITCH (SSPC SW) ON
    LOCK STATE UNLOCKED
    VOLTAGE STATUS PRESENT
    CURRENT STATUS FLOWING
    TRIP STATUS (CIRCUIT BREAKER) NOT TRIP
    FAIL STATUS (SSPC) NOT FAILED

    1. If the above status are met, go to step 8.
    2. If one of the above status is not met, go to step 3.
    3. If more than one status is not met, continue with next step.
      NOTE: Repeat this step by selecting LABEL 015 Load 1 (R FWD PRI PUMP, Phase B) and LABEL 015 Load 2 (R FWD PRI PUMP, Phase C).

  2. An alternative way of monitoring the result is to select ACPC IN via EMS CDU1 or CDU2 signboard Menu. Make sure the result that follows are met:

    • Bit 14 or 22 :LOGIC EQUATION STATE (L TRANSFER REQUEST)
    • Bit 15 or 23: VIRTUAL CIRCUIT BREAKER (SSPC CIRCUIT BREAKER)
    • Bit 16 or 24: VIRTUAL SWITCH (SSPC SW)
    • Bit 17 or 25: LOCK STATE
    • Bit 18 or 26: VOLTAGE STATUS
    • Bit 19 or 27: CURRENT STATUS
    • Bit 20 or 28: TRIP STATUS (CIRCUIT BREAKER)
    • Bit 21 or 29: FAIL STATUS (SSPC)

    1. If the above status are met, go to step 8.
    2. If one of the above status is not met, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring check (short to ground = fail) between the ACPC (A54P9) and right wing forward AC boost-pump (B22P1).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a ground check at right wing forward AC boost-pump (B22J1). Repair as required.

    1. If ground is not there, go to step 6.
    2. If ground is there, continue with next step.

  5. Swap the right wing AC boost-pump. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective AC boost-pump and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. Swap the ACPC/SSPC 8. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective SSPC card and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  7. Swap the ACPC secondary logic card. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective SLC card and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Remove the FMQGC. Re-install the FMQGC making sure it is fully and properly inserted into place. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  9. Replace the FMQGC.
  10. Do close out.
