Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. With the WING XFER rotary knob set to left, monitor the results that follow on the FMQGC A (B)-CH A (B) COCKPIT FUEL PANEL DATA page.

    1. If the MANUAL R TO L is shown as ON, go to step 4.
    2. If the MANUAL R TO L is shown as OFF, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a wiring check (Open to ground = fail) between the FUEL control panel (AP5P2) and ground stud (GS884).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a wiring check between the FUEL control panel (AP5P2) and FMQGC (A47DP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, go to step 9.

  4. With the WING XFER rotary knob set to left, monitor the results that follow on the EMS CDU 1A (B)-DISCRETE INPUTS LABEL 114 page.

    1. If the RIGHT XFLOW SOV COMMAND (B28) is shown as ON, go to step 7.
    2. If the RIGHT XFLOW SOV COMMAND (B28) is shown as OFF, continue with next step.

  5. Perform a wiring check (Open to ground = fail) between the FUEL control panel (AP5P2) and ground stud (GS160).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a wiring check (Open to ground = fail) between the EMS CDU 1 (A94P2) and FUEL control panel (AP5P1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, go to step 9.

  7. With the WING XFER rotary knob to left, monitor the results that follow on the EMS CDU 2A (B)-DISCRETE INPUTS LABEL 114 page.

    1. If the RIGHT XFLOW SOV COMMAND (B28) is shown as ON, go to step 10.
    2. If the RIGHT XFLOW SOV COMMAND (B28) is shown as OFF, continue with next step.

  8. Perform a wiring check (Open to ground = fail) between the EMS CDU 2 (A91P2) and FUEL control panel (AP5P2).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  9. Replace the FUEL control panel (AP5P1).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, go to step 17.

  10. Select the FMQGC A (B) page, on the TEST page, select the FMQGC A (B)-CH A (B) RIGHT TO LEFT WING TRANSFER TEST page and follow the instruction to automatically open the fuel transfer valve.

    1. If the VALVE OPEN POSITION SWITCH is shown as OPEN, go to step 12.
    2. If the VALVE OPEN POSITION SWITCH is shown as NOT OPEN, NOT CLOSED, or CLOSED, continue with next step.
NOTE: The automatic transfer function is inhibited if there is less than 50 pounds difference between the left and right wing fuel quantity.

  11. Perform a wiring check between the FUEL control panel (AP5P2) and FMQGC (A47AP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, go to step 13.

  12. On the FMQGC A (B)-CH A (B) RIGHT TO LEFT WING TRANSFER TEST page, follow the instruction to automatically close the transfer valve.

    1. If the VALVE CLOSED POSITION SWITCH is shown as OPEN and then CLOSED, go to step 17.
    2. If the VALVE OPEN POSITION SWITCH is shown as NOT OPEN or NOT CLOSED, go to step 15.
    3. If the VALVE OPEN POSITION SWITCH stays shown as OPEN, continue with next step.

  13. Check for 28 VDC at the left wing transfer shutoff-valve (L31P1).

    1. If there is 28 VDC, go to step 15.
    2. If there is no 28 VDC, continue with next step.

  14. Perform a wiring check between the left wing transfer shutoff-valve (L31P1) and SPDA 3 (A15P1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  15. Perform a wiring check between the left wing fuel tank connector (L31P1) and FMQGC (A47AP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  16. Swap the right wing transfer shutoff-valves with left shut off valve.

    1. If system checks are good, replace right wing transfer shut-off valve and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  17. Replace the FMQGC computer.
  18. Do close out.
