Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 is reporting that the Hydraulic System1 fluid quantity is below the recommended level in relation to the temperature and aircraft configuration. Refer to the table below:

HYDRAULIC FLUID TEMPERATURE QUANTITY
≥-40°C to ≤-17°C <23%
-16°C to ≤4°C <34%
5°C to ≤26°C <43%
27°C to ≤49°C <52%
50°C to ≤71°C <62%
72°C to ≤93°C <70%
Aircraft Condition: Weight on Wheels, system pressurized above 2600 psi and condition set for more than 2 minutes.

Possible Causes:

  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 (A17)
  • Hydraulic System 1 Reservoir Quantity Transducer (MT139)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

NOTE: An engine run-up may be required to verify for a leak at the EDP drain mast.

NOTE: For a suspected component leak in the wings, a fuel sample may be required and send to a lab to verify for content of hydraulic fluid in the fuel.

  1. Ensure Hydraulic System 1 is properly serviced.

    1. If quantity is good, go to step 3.
    2. If system low quantity found, continue with next step.

  2. Service the system and check for leaks.

    1. If no leaks are noted, do close out.
    2. If leaks are noted, continue with next step.

  3. Swap DAU 1 with DAU 2.

    1. If system checks are good, replace DAU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring check between hydraulic system 1 reservoir quantity transducer and DAU 1.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Carry out an external visual check of the hydraulic system which includes all lines and their component(s). Replace as necessary.

    1. If faults are found/repaired and message clears, do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  6. Replace Hydraulic Reservoir 1.
  7. Do close out.
