WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Heater/Brake-Temperature Monitoring Unit (HBMU) 2 does not received Label 061 (Yaw Damper 2 Actuator Status) from Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 2 or the Labels is invalid.

  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 2 (A18)
  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 2 (A10)
  • Heater/Brake-Temperature Monitoring Unit (HMBU) 2 (A93)
  • Junction Box 4 (JB4)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Look at the CAIMS stored and active faults. Make sure there is no fault present for DAU 2 and IAC 2.
  2. Using the Bus Reader, read WSP 2 from IAC 2 (AFCS). Make sure the WSP is present and valid.
  3. Swap DAU 2 with DAU 4.

    1. If system checks are good, replace DAU 2 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Swap IAC 2 with IAC 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace IAC 2 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Swap HBMU 2 with HBMU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace HBMU 2 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Perform wiring checks of ARINC between DAU 2, JB4 and HBMU 2.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  7. Replace JB4.
  8. Do close out.
