CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Left Window Heater/wiring has been detected OPEN (Heater Current ≤ 6.12 ±0.68 A).

Possible Causes:

  • Left Side Window Heater
  • Left Windshield Temperature Controller (WTC) (A164)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks between left Side Window Heater and L WTC.

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  2. Measure the left Side Window Heater resistance. The total resistance of the anti-fog coating when measured between terminal blocks shall be 27.47 to 33.57 ohms.

    1. If resistance within range, continue with next step.
    2. If resistance out of range, go to step 4.

  3. Interchange WTC 1 with WTC 2. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective WTC.
      NOTE: If the Windshield has visible signs of overheating or delamination caused by overheat, do not interchange the WTCs and simply replace affected WTC.

  4. Replace the side window.
  5. Do close out.
