CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

A Left Windshield HEATER OVERCURRENT condition has been detected.

  • Heater Current ≥11.07 ±1.01 A with 33% Heating Level
  • Heater Current ≥19.13 ±1.74 A with 100% Heating Level

Possible Causes:

  • Left Windshield Heater
  • Left Windshield Temperature Controller (WTC) (A164)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks between Left windshield heater and L WTC.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  2. Measure the Heater resistance. The total resistance of the anti-fog coating when measured between terminal blocks shall be 11.73-15.87 (at 19 °C-29 °C).

    1. If resistance is within range, go to step 4.
    2. If resistance is out of range, continue with next step.

  3. Replace left windshield heater.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace L WTC.
  5. Do close out.
