Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 4 senses a malfunction in the Pilot’s LH Rudder Pedal Components of the Crew Force-Measurement System.

Possible Causes:

  • Pilot LH Rudder-Pedal Force-Transducer (A257)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 4 (A31)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove DAU 4 to get access to the connector A31AP1 and disconnect the connector A257J1 from RDR PDL FTU PILOT L. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A31AP1-G8 A257P1-4
    A31AP1-H8 A257P1-5
    A31AP1-SH A257J1-SH

    1. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with the next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A31AP1-G8 Ground
    A31AP1-H8 Ground
    A31AP1-SH Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with the next step.

  3. Swap the DAU 4 with DAU 2. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace DAU 4 and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with the next step.

  4. Replace the Pilot’s LH Rudder Pedal Force Transducer.
  5. Do close out.
