Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Aircraft Radio Systems cannot transmit data through the Radio System Bus (RSB), or the RSB data is not correct.

Possible Causes:

  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 2 (A10)
  • Radio Management Unit (RMU) 2 (A26)
  • Very High Frequency (VHF) Communication Unit 2 (A2)
  • Very High Frequency (VHF) Navigation (NAV) Unit 2 (A4)
  • Radio System Bus (RSB)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Access CAIMS active faults. Are any of the following messages displayed.

    • FWC 1 - INTERNAL RSB FAULT
    • FWC 2 - INTERNAL RSB FAULT
    • FWC 3 - INTERNAL RSB FAULT

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, access CAIMS Systems Diagnostics and perform the RSB system test or IAC EDS core test and continue with next step.

  2. After each IMT test has completed, record the active IMT code from the TEST RESULTS page.
  3. Perform the Intergrated Maintenance Test (IMT) fault code look-up to find the applicable troubleshooting procedures.
  4. Do close out.
