Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Head-Up Display System (HUD) does not receive data from the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS).

Possible Causes:

  • Head-Up-Display (HUD) Computer (A250)
  • Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) (A64)
  • Associated Wiring

If the EICAS message GPWS SYSTEMS FAIL (Cyan) shows, do the fault isolation for the GPWS.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring check between EGPWS and HUDC as follow:

    From To Result
    A64BP1-C1 A250DP1-A1
    A64BP1-D1 A250DP1-B1
    GND A250DP1-C1
    A64BP1-SH A250DP1-SH

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
      NOTE: When short circuit is detected, remove all interface components and reinstall one at a time to isolate short (interface component includes DAU 3).

  2. Replace EGPWS.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Replace HUDC.
  4. Do close out.
